Slugging
the walk-off and the 2-day cycle!
June 2, 2013 -- Ryan Doumit is 'riding the
wave.' It's his trademark phrase when the media asks him about a hot streak. He'll say he doesn't over-think
it, he's just riding the wave. The veteran catcher has caught a heck of a wave this week. On Saturday night
against the Mariners there were two men on in the bottom of the ninth, the Twins trailing 4-3, when Doumit slugged a triple to plate two runs for the walk-off win. He'd already had a single
and double that night. The game ended with lots of jumping and piling-on for No. 9 and during the TV interview after
the game, Doumit got the shaving-cream pie that teammates like to give to the guy who saved the day. On Sunday in his
first at-bat, Doumit slugged a homerun to left, out of the reach of his former teammate of the late 1990s, the Mariners'
Jason Bay, for the first Twin run on the board of what became a 10-run route. That homerun completed what Twins announcers
jokingly called a "2-day cycle." Watch the excitement in the links to video below!
Doumit's walk-off triple brings Twins win
More walk-off happiness to watch
Like a Boss! May 31, 2013 - Ryan Doumit had two
hits in every game against the Brewers, and a couple of home runs. Read
what the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel (JSOniline) had to say about the neighbor series: "PLAYER OF THE GAME Ryan
Doumit was more like player of the series, driving in two runs in each of the four games to lead the Twins to an interleague
series sweep of the Brewers. He had two hits Thursday, the big blow being a two-run home run to right-center in the fourth
inning."
Doumit heating up as Twins end May with wins
May 30, 2013 -- Putting in some time in the outfield over the past few games, Ryan Doumit
is carrying his weight at the plate with a solid bat at key times. On Wednesday in the first of two home games against
the National League's Milwaukee Brewers at Target Field, Doumit laced a two-out, two-run double to right in the first
inning to get the Twins on the board and give his team a lead it never lost. He did his part to give pitcher Samuel Deduno
his first win of 2013. The Twins also beat the Brewers for the two games at Milwaukee. Doumit has three hits, six
RBI and a home run in these three games. It has to mean just a little more to him to be taking games from the Brewers and
knocking in runs agains them: Prior to signing with the Twins in November of 2011, Doumit's baseball career was in Pittsburgh,
where the Pirates struggled mightily to defeat the Brewers, home or away, for years. Wednesday's double was Doumit's
10th of the year. He was listed in the Top 25 category for doubles in the American League in 2012, with 34 (a ranking of 18th).

Doumit gets back into the game in a win
against Detroit
May 2, 2013 -- After too many games of lost playing time, Skipper Ron Gardenhire
put Ryan Doumit back into the game Wednesday for a day game against the Detroit Tigers at Detroit. Doumit caught the
6-2 win, going 1 for 3 at the plate with a single. He also had a stolen base and caught a runner stealing. The Twins
have a day off today and then play three over the weekend in Cleveland, followed by a trip up to Boston against the Red Sox
before coming home next weekend to play the Orioles.
'He can probably bite a bat in half right
now...'
April 26, 2013 -- The Minnesota Twins have had a lot of down time for April thanks
to Mother Nature. Ryan Doumit has had a little extra this week as Twins skipper Ron Gardenhire takes a longer look at
his rookie Oswaldo Arcia. "I didn't bring Arcia up here to sit on the bench," Gardenhire told the media. That means that spot on the bench is warmed by Twins designated hitter/catcher/superhero, No. 9. Gardenire told
TwinCities.com: "I know Doumit, he can probably bite a bat in half right now," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said.
"He played pretty much every day for us last year." If you're just starting to pay attention to Doumit's
2013, it's not like he hasn't been out there. Going into Thursday's game, Doumit played every inning of 15 of
the Twins 17 games so far. He was out of the starting lineup three of the last five games. Doumit is hitting .357 against
left-hand pitchers this season so far, but the switch hitter is slower to warm up against righties, hitting .157.
It's coming...
April 11, 2013 -- The Twins were swept in Kansas City, losing the first series of the season. They
head back to Target Field for a six-game homestand, three with the Mets and three with the Angels. In Kansas City, Ryan
Doumit had a hit and the only RBI of the game in game one; and other than a walk in the third game, he hit a lot of balls
right to someone, whether it was a liner to center, or, in the series finale, a fly to right caught on the warning track. Take it from the 'expert' at ryandoumit.com (six seasons of following his career religiously), this means one thing:
It's coming. Superman will break out and absolutely crush it, repeatedly, and sooner rather than later. Plan on that. The Twins have a day off today and open their weekend series with the Mets Friday night, 7:10 p.m. Minnesota time.
Twins even series with Orioles
April 6, 2013 -- The Minnesota Twins took advantage of some rare errors on the part of the Orioles
Saturday night in Baltimore to even the series at 1-1 on their first road trip of the regular season. Ryan Doumit hit
in the five-spot of the lineup as designated hitter. He went 2-for-5 with a single, a double, a run and an RBI. In the
first game of the series Doumit was 1-for-3 with a hit, a run and a walk. He hit fifth in the rotation and caught the game.
Doumit
helps 5-run effort in series-winning game
April
5, 2013 -- Ryan Doumit waited until the 8th inning Thursday to get his first hit
of the game - a double with one out to advance a runner to third in what would be a 5-run inning for the Twins. The 8-2
win over the Detroit Tigers, after a walk-off win Wednesday in the second game of the season/series, gave the Twins the series
win. Going into today's 3:10 p.m. (E.T.) first pitch in Baltimore, the Twins are 2-1 and in first place.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUPERMAN!
Ryandoumit.com and his growing legion of fans everywhere wish No. 9 a very happy 32nd birthday today,
April 3.
Doumit clubs first RBI of the season in loss to Tigers
April 2, 2013 -- It may have been April Fool's Day when
the Twins hosted the Detroit Tigers on opening day, but a pitch up and out won't fool Ryan Doumit. He hit a hard
liner to right with the bases loaded in the seventh, one out, to bring the Twins to within one of the Tigers, 3-2 at the time. Doumit was the designated hitter of the game, going 1-5 with 2 Ks on a frigid afternoon in Minneapolis. The Twins lost 4-2
despite a strong showing from starter Vance Worley. Click the link below to go to MLB.com's video of Doumit's
RBI.

Twins 2013 : It starts today!
April 1, 2013: The Minnesota Twins open at home in an afternoon game at Target Field against the Detroit Tigers. Expect Ryan Doumit as designated hitter in this first game. Manager Ron Gardenhire made the decision in spring training
to carry two catchers on the roster instead of three like last year. By sending down Drew Butera, Doumit is the official back
up catcher to Joe Mauer, as well as what Gardenhire sees as a reliable, effective designated hitter off the bench for the
Twins. Doumit switched his number in the offseason from 18 to No. 9. It's the number he wore growing up, so you can
be he's hanging on to it! Today is the first time in four seasons the Twins open at home, and the forecast is calling
for the coldest opening day on record: Low 30s at gametime with windchill making it feel like it's in the 20s. All
that can be offset by a solid Twins performance and a positive start to 2013!
Baseball begins.
